My friend had a kilo TT frame that had been run over and since out grown; in addition, the rear wheel rim was bent and the front wheel's bearings were pitted and seized. Since I had an alley way find frame set (a 1980s, mid range Takara) that was too big for me we decided to trade. My friend, Owen, switch over all of the usable kilo parts to the Takara and paid me some money for a wheelset I had lying around (a flip flop weinmen dp 18 and a fairly ghetto star true quick release). I tried to save as much from the takara as I could although just about the only thing that made it onto this build from the Takara is the seat which is going to be switched out once I get the money for a brooks.
The frame is a 48cm kilo TT, vuelta corsalite wheelset, no name amazon crankset, Nashbar Prima 2 tires, Nashbar stem, fuji drops, and plastic platform pedals. I'm running a front, low end tektro brake, I plan on eventually replacing the seat, pedals, and, once they break, the crankset. The frame has some serious toe overlap and is a little small for me (I'm 5'8" with a thirty inch inseam) but has been serviceable and gets ridden frequently by my girlfriend.
The wheelset was originally purchased for my 1983 lotus champion single speed conversion but they gave the frame a very dead feel so I ended up relacing the rear wheel on my lotus with a formula track hub. On the much livelier kilo the wheelset feels fine.
